Lewis Hamilton says that he is glad he made the decision to swap McLaren for Mercedes over the winter.

The Brit swapped the Woking squad for the Silver Arrows after a disappointing 2013 campaign, in the shock move of the off-season.

Although some were critical of his choice, Hamilton looks to have made the right decision in the short term, with his former outfit struggling.

After winning his first race for Mercedes in Hungary, Hamilton says that he is happy with his decision:

“I’d been a part of that family for such a long period of time, since I was 13,” he told Al Jazeera English.

“To think about leaving there, it’s like leaving home – [and] it’s not easy to leave home, home cooking and people that you know, people you’re comfortable with.

“So making that choice was pretty tough, [but] I can honestly say I feel just so invigorated. It’s so refreshing to be somewhere new.”
