Derrick Rose certainly was worth the wait for fans in East London on Wednesday afternoon.

In front of a huge crowd in Hoxton, Rose opened his d rose jump store. Some fans said they waited in the sun for around five hours just to get a chance to meet Rose. The event was just one stop on his tour around Europe and Asia. The goal of the tour is for Rose and Adidas to continue to market his new sneakers.

The Bulls point guard, who missed last season due to an ACL injury, said he had only been to London one other time. That visit was with the Bulls a few years back but didn’t know too much about the city. However, he said his fellow teammate and Brit, Luol Deng, told him exactly what he needs to see and do while in London. Because of the injury, Rose was also forced to miss the 2012 London Olympics.

As a huge fan of the NBA, Chicago Bulls and Rose this was a unique event to take part in. Since I have been in Europe, I have learned a great deal about the sport of football as a once casual fan. But now I got to see the people of London show their dying support for an American superstar. An event like this shows the huge effect that that NBA and its stars have on people from all over the world.

Rose spoke to the crowd for about 20 minutes. Following that the fans that arrived early enough were presented with a chance to win a pair of his new Adidas d rose 3.5 sneakers.
