England duo Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara are both backing Kevin Pietersen to make a return to the side and believe that him coming back would be the best thing for English cricket.

Of course Pietersen’s future with the Three Lions is still under a lot of doubt and there is a strong possibility that he will not play for his national side again.

However, both Morgan and Bopara believe that he is still one of the best batsman that England have and that players and supporters would welcome him back into the side.

“I think everybody would like to see him back. I think the general public love watching him play, and the cricketing world do as well.” Morgan said.

Bopara then added: “It’d be nice to see him back in England colours.

“He’s a great player; we know he’s a class player. I hope for him things turn out well.”

It is difficult to know what the future holds for Pietersen. Maybe much of it will depend on how the England side performs in the next few months.

Say they beat South Africa in this One Day International series – which of course they cannot lose, and then go on to beat India on their own turf in the Test match series. Why risk bringing him back and potentially ruining the spirit in the camp?

It really is an interesting one. Is Kevin Pietersen still England’s best batsman? Yes. But, he cannot simply walk back into the side. He needs to gain the trust and respect of a lot of his teammates.

Neither one of Morgan or Bopara were involved in the Test team when this issue came up, so maybe it does not matter to them as much.

Alistair Cook and Andy Flower will be the men who make the decision on his future and as we know, that will be done behind closed doors.
