It was almost the perfect weekend for the Mercedes driver, who was barely challenged on his way to victory.

With Lewis Hamilton seemingly out of the picture in the first part of qualifying, Rosberg had one hand on the trophy when he defended his lead into the first corner.

It was the dominant victory the German crowd had got used to after years watching Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel.

We were denied of a battle between the Mercedes pair when Hamilton started out of position, but Rosberg did everything asked of him.

His television time was limited due to the isolated nature of his drive, and the wheel to wheel racing behind him.

With a 14 point lead in the standings it is by far his best chance to take home the world championship, but it is not clear cut what side of the Mercedes garage the title will fall.
